It is with regret that Saturday the 13th April 2019 will be the last Saturday that we will open, for the foreseeable future. We will be opening until 7pm on Thursday evenings to compensate.
1. Customer visits with no purchase:
Firstly, we have experienced an increasing number of customers who visit the showroom. During the visit, these customers try on several shoes and/or try out several sticks by hitting a ball – which does damage over a period, rendering the sticks unsaleable. These customers have been leaving the showroom, having used the staff assistance and advice and our substantial stock facility to then go home and search and find the product cheaper on the internet. This has resulted in substantially reduced sales, whilst our overheads and staff costs have increased.
Our staff have been subjected to unnecessary aggression, and rudeness from certain customers who have demanded the lowest found internet prices, whilst expecting staff support and access to the huge stock we hold to choose from. Saturday has been the day when most of the unacceptable behaviour has taken place and when the staff are mostly female. Aggression in future will lead to the customer being escorted from the premises and barred for life.
Overall, the result is that it is no longer economically viable to open the shop on Saturdays due to this type of behaviour and the reduced sales. We are aware that across the country, shops and showrooms are closing and suffering from reduced sales, so we are not alone
